Punk started in the 1970's as an irksome, guerilla take-over against common current of pop music. Rock ensambles like Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid boosted punk back in the 90's . This time the blend of lively, naive rock music with rhytmic pop melodies stayed on the TV. These days, self-styled pop punk is a key element in the world of mainstream pop music. These 10 record albums are the best starting points to get to know pop punk.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's never-ending struggle to insult all grown ups in the locality, that tape featured a model clothed as an enema au pair girl on the cover. The music inside is adolescent and never-to-be-forgotten with the massive hit song “Don't Leave Me.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless

After declining from their nineties fleeting surge of popularity, Green Day faded from live performances to mix punk's first rock opera. 5. The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray

The Lemonheads' lead singer Evan Dando is the one and only punk performer to become a real teen dream-boy. By the way the band wrote down some outstanding songs, too, including “Hannah & Gabi”, “Download Paramore” and “Rest Assured”.

6. The Offspring - Smash

The Offspring a highly influential American rock band were one of the true punk renaissance bands from the nineties. 7. Rancid - Avenues and Alleyways

Rancid a lot like late 70's classic punk bands as the Clash. They also use the of ska in almost all of their music.

This French Canadian group showed up in the spotlight in October with their studio album When I'm With You. This second studio album is even better and covers the hit song “Welcome To My Life.”

9. Sum 41 - Summer
